Opponents of Amulsar Gold Deposit find no understanding at Armenia's IC

No abuse in the issuance of permits for the operation of the Amulsar Deposit has been found; the inquiry into the case has been stopped, the Investigating Committee (IC) of Armenia has informed.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that since 2014, residents of the city of Djermuk have been protesting against the development of the Amulsar Deposit.

During the inquiry into the criminal case on possible abuses at the issuance of permits for the operation of the Amulsar Gold Deposit, many interrogations were carried out; documents were seized and analyzed from state and private organizations; experts of the "Elars" and TCC Companies conducted a comprehensive examination, the "News-Armenia" reported on December 21 with reference to the press service of the country's IC.

Investigators have found that the claims against the expert examination were based on the fact that experts made use of different methods in their calculations and assessments, and also had to do with the absence of specific criteria and methodology in the Armenia's legislation.

"In this regard, on December 21, based on the absence of corpus delicti, a decision was made to stop the criminal prosecution against a number of persons and the proceeding of the case," the "News.am" has reported with reference to the IC.
