Doctor manages to convince Salekh Rustamov to agree to supportive treatment

Salekh Rustamov, an Azerbaijani activist, who has been on his protest hunger strike for 40 days, has agreed to take supportive treatment, Adil Geibulla, a doctor, has informed. According to the doctor, Rustamov's health condition is relatively stable; doctors are doing everything to prevent coma.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on November 6, Salekh Rustamov, an activist of the Popular Front Party of Azerbaijan (PFPA), went on a hunger strike in protest against his non-inclusion into the amnesty list. On December 13, he refused to drink water; and a day later, his condition deteriorated sharply.

"I asked Salekh to abandon at least a dry hunger strike. He didn't agree, but I managed to persuade him of the need for supportive treatment," Adil Geibulla has explained.

He has added that "Rustamov is a man of strong willpower; despite the 40th day of his hunger strike, he is conscious, in control of himself, and his health condition is relatively stable."

The release of Rustamov depends on the decision of the President of Azerbaijan, Rufat Safarov, the head of the NGO "Defence Line" has noted.
