Armenia and Azerbaijan exchange accusations of shelling attacks

Azerbaijani units shelled the combat positions of Armenia in the Gegarkunik direction, the Ministry of Defence (MoD) of Armenia reported. Its Azerbaijani counterpart reported about a shelling attack on the Azerbaijani positions in the Kelbadjar District.

At 4:25 p.m., Azerbaijani military units violated the ceasefire by opening intensive fire from different-calibre firearms at the Armenian combat positions in the direction of Gegarkunik, the “Caucasian Knot” correspondent was informed in the press service for the Armenian MoD.

According to an Armenian MoD’s press officer, the Armenian side took retaliatory actions.

The Ministry of Defence of Azerbaijan reported about shelling attacks from the direction of Armenia. “Units of the armed forces of Armenia committed another provocation on the Kelbadjar section of the state border. At about 3:00 p.m. on December 9, Armenian military units shelled the positions of the Azerbaijani army in the Kelbadjar District,” reports the Azerbaijani Ministry of Defence on its official website. According to the Ministry of Defence, Azerbaijani militaries took retaliatory actions.
