In response to disciplinary sanctions, Saakashvili rejects medical treatment

As revenge for the fine imposed by the state inspector, the Georgia's Ministry of Justice (MoJ) has applied disciplinary sanctions, Mikheil (Mikhail) Saakashvili has stated and refused from medical care at the prison hospital.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on November 11, the Georgian Penitentiary Service released two videos of Mikhail Saakashvili's transportation from the Rustavi Prison to the prison hospital located in the town of Gldani. The Georgian Ombudsperson pointed out that in the video, the prison staff is rudely treating Saakashvili; and the very fact of posting the videos violates his right to privacy and insults his honour and dignity. Then, the state inspector fined the Georgia's MoJ and the Penitentiary Service by an amount equivalent to USD 810, finding that both the videos of Mikhail Saakashvili's transportation to the prison hospital and the information about his diet in prison were violations of the law on personal data.

Mikhail Saakashvili has stated that six hours after the publication by the state inspection of the decision to fine the above entities for disseminating a detainee's personal data, he was subjected to pressure at the prison hospital.

He has concluded that "this was their response to the report of the state inspector, and their revenge." "Therefore, I'll stop all the treatment and will continue this protest until they lift the so-called disciplinary sanctions and restore normal visitors' access to me!" Mikhail Saakashvili stated in the Facebook post placed late in the evening on December 7.
