Chechen Parliament offers to ban mentioning criminals' nationality in media
The Chechen Parliament has submitted to the State Duma draft amendments to the law "On Mass Media", providing for a ban on the publication of information about the nationality and religion of people involved in crimes.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that the Chechen Parliament had began drafting the above bill after Ramzan Kadyrov commented on the incident in New Moscow, where a group of young people beat up two adult men. The special services must find the provocateurs who had mistakenly named the attackers as natives of Northern Caucasus, Ramzan Kadyrov has stated.
Today, the Chechen Parliament has lodged its draft amendments to Article 4 of the law "On Mass Media" to the Russian State Duma, according to which it is proposed to ban any publications in media of information about the nationality and religion of people suspected of committing crimes.
The explanatory note to the bill specifies that the dissemination of such data "is regarded as an insult to the national and religious feelings of honest and respectable citizens, and true believers who have nothing to do with any criminal activities."
