Georgian Ombudsperson reports threat to Saakashvili’s life

The Ombudsperson of Georgia reports that the heath state of Mikhail Saakashvili, who has been on hunger strike, is life threatening and demands to transfer the former president of Georgia to a civil hospital. A member of the ruling party urges to wait for the new results of the medical examination of the politician.

The “Caucasian Knot” has reported that on November 18, on the 49th day of the hunger strike, former Georgian President Mikhail Saakashvili fainted in a prison hospital. After that, the politician was transferred to a resuscitation ward.

On November 10, oppositionists announced their intention to hold daily rallies with the demand to release the former president of Georgia.

Ombudsperson of Georgia Nino Lomdjariya reports that Mikhail Saakashvili, who continues his hunger strike, is in critical state, and with a high probability he is in danger of falling into a coma or an epileptic seizure, which, in turn, can lead to death.

In turn, the State Inspector’s Service of Georgia has called on authorized persons “to take all necessary measures to protect Mikhail Saakashvili’s health.”

On November 18, the leader of the “Georgian Dream” Party threatened supporters of Mikhail Saakashvili’s transfer to a civil clinic with responsibility for possible incidents, thus provoking a protest from the Ombudsperson.
