Azerbaijani activist Salekh Rustamov placed into dungeon

Salekh Rustamov, convicted within the case of financing the Popular Front Party of Azerbaijan (PFPA), has been placed into the dungeon (punishment cell) of the prison hospital. Doctors have threatened him with forced feeding if he didn't stop his hunger strike, his son has informed.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on February 27, five PFPA activists were found guilty of money laundering. The court sentenced Salekh Rustamov, a Russian citizen, to 7 years and 3 months in prison. On November 6, he went on a hunger strike, and the next day he was transferred to a medical institution of the Penitentiary Service.

Rustamov was placed into the dungeon after his advocate, Bakhruz Bairamov, visited him on November 8 at the prison hospital of the Penitentiary Service, said Sezgin Rustamov, a Salekh's son.

"My father said that he was placed into the punishment cell and was threatened that if he didn't start eating within two days, he would be fed by force," Sezgin Rustamov told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.
