The teachers of the school No. 119 in Tbilisi went on strike after the dismissal of the school principal. According to the teachers on strike, the principal was removed from her post for political reasons.

The educational process has been suspended at the school. According to the dismissed school principal, she is a relative of a candidate for the Council in Gldani, nominated by the opposition “United National Movement” (UNM) Party, and therefore the higher administration decided to dismiss her from school and replace her with a supporter of the pro-government “Georgian Dream” Party, the “Formula” TV Channel reports on its website.

“Yes, I associate my dismissal with the upcoming second round of the elections. I am an aunt of the candidate for deputy of the Gldani District Council, nominated by the ‘United National Movement’ Party,” said the dismissed school principal as quoted by the “Formula” TV Channel.

According to the teachers on strike, an incompetent person has been appointed to the place of the former school principal. The appointed person should start his duties today, and therefore the school staff decided to go on strike, the “Formula” TV Channel reports.
