A woman from Novoshakhtinsk sentenced to four years of imprisonment for torturing her daughter

A court sentenced to imprisonment in a high-security penal colony a mother of a seven-year-old girl from Novoshakhtinsk, who was regularly tied up and beaten. A child’s stepfather was sent for compulsory medical treatment.

The “Caucasian Knot” has reported that law enforcers started to check a family from Novoshakhtinsk after a seven-year-old girl was hospitalized with injuries and social media reported that the child’s mother was holding the girl on a leash and deprived her of water and drink. The tied girl was found by a female neighbour. On April 3, the court pronounced a decision to detain the girl’s mother and stepfather. According to the investigators’ version, the child was tortured daily.

The Novoshakhtinsk District Court found the girl’s 25-year-old mother guilty of torturing the child and sentenced her to four years in a high-security penal colony. According to the court’s verdict, both the sentenced woman and her husband regularly beat their daughter and tied her hands and feet even for minor offenses. The stepfather’s case will be considered separately. He was declared insane and released from punishment with the appointment of a specialized type of medical treatment.
