Kadyrov gets over 99% of votes at election of Chechen leader

At the election of the head of Chechnya, Ramzan Kadyrov has won 99.63% of the votes, the Chechen Central Election Commission (CEC) has informed after processing 53.88% of the protocols.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on September 16, it became known that rallies with the participation of state and civil servants, who urged residents of the republic to go to the polls, were held in many dwelling settlements of Chechnya. The clergymen from the regional Spiritual Administration of Muslims (SAM) were directly and indirectly campaigning for Kadyrov, despite the fact that it was a direct violation of the law, analysts have noted.

Let us remind you that on September 15, in his blog that he runs on the "Caucasian Knot", the "Chechnya Insider" blogger stated that Kadyrov's re-election as the head of Chechnya was obvious to the locals back in June, when President Vladimir Putin invited him to stand as a candidate at the elections, which meant the extension of Kadyrov's term of office. Nevertheless, Kadyrov had two rivals – an unknown deputy of the local parliament, Khalid Nakaev, and an official, Isa Khadjimuradov. Probably, they both were made an offer that they could not refuse, the blogger has suggested, also noting that residents of Chechnya treat elections as senseless. Traditionally, there is no pre-election race in the region, since in Chechnya, basically, only the "Edinaya Rossia" (United Russia" Party is represented.
