In Chechnya, new mosque named after a relative of Ramzan Kadyrov

The Djamlail Alikhanov (formerly Gikalo) village has opened a mosque for 2400 people, named after Abdul-Kadyr, a great-grandfather of the leader of Chechnya. Earlier, mosques, named after the father, mother, uncle, and grandfather of Ramzan Kadyrov, were opened in the republic.

On September 5, a mosque was opened in the Djamlail Alikhanov village (the former Gikalo village), and it was named after Abdul-Kadyr. This is the 1308th mosque in the republic, the “Chechnya Today” reports.

“The decision to build a mosque was made in last January after an appeal from residents of the village. The old mosque could accommodate only 1000 people, while the population exceeded 10,000 people,” the “Chechnya Today” quotes Ramzan Kadyrov as saying.

Earlier, the leader of Chechnya has written on the “VKontakte” social network that the villagers asked him not only to build a mosque, but also to name it after Abdul-Kadyr.

“The Kadyrov family members were known for their religiosity, and they provided many scholars of the Koran ... The main merit of Abdul-Kadyr was teaching children the Arabic script and reading the Koran,” notes Professor Vakhi Garsaev, a specialist in genealogy of the Benois teip (family clan), to whom the Kadyrov family belongs.

Ruslan Kutaev, the president of the Assembly of Caucasian Nations, confirmed that the Kadyrov family was considered very pious. At the same time, he suggested that the construction of the mosque could be the result of both an initiative from below and a desire “from above.”

Let us remind you that the “Heart of Chechnya” mosque is named after Akhmat Kadyrov, and in the city of Argun, there is a mosque named after Aimani Kadyrova (the mother of Ramzan Kadyrov).
