Rights defenders assess sincerity of Khalimat Taramova's words

Khalimat Taramova has recorded a video under pressure, Svetlana Anokhina has suggested. Information noise only aggravates the situation around the Taramov family, and the request to leave her alone is understandable, Saida Sirazhudinova has noted.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on September 4, in her new video message, Taramova assured that everything was fine with her and asked to leave her and her family alone. This video was recorded under relatives' pressure, Anna Manylova, a girl's friend, has suggested.

Khalimat Taramova didn't film the video of her own free will, Svetlana Anokhina, an activist of the "Marem" human rights group, is sure. In her opinion, the reason for the video message was the appeal of Aminat Lorsanova, another Chechen woman who fled from home, addressed to Alexander Bastrykin, the chairman of the Investigating Committee of the Russian Federation (ICRF), in which she expressed her concern for Khalimat's life.

The video tells the main point – that Khalimat is alive and well, said Saida Sirazhudinova, a resident of "Caucasus. Peace. Development" Centre for Studying Global Issues of Modernity and Regional Problems.

She has noted that the situation with Khalimat and her family is difficult. Ms Sirazhudinova is sure that if the girl had fled from her husband's beatings, it's wrong to accuse her of non-traditional sexual orientation.

She has added that the constant informational, sometimes unhealthy noise prevents from reducing the interest in Taramova's fate.
