Dagestani authorities' report of decrease in COVID-19 cases sparks scepticism in social network

The Ministry of Public Health (MPH) of Dagestan has reported on the stabilization of the situation with the incidence of coronavirus in the region and the phased closure of hospitals for COVID-19 patients. Instagram users were sceptical about this information and associated it with the upcoming elections.

In Dagestan, the coronavirus incidence is on decline, which makes it possible to return the medical facilities earlier converted for treating coronavirus patients back to the usual regime, the Dagestani MPH reported on September 3 in its Instagram page.

Social network commentators have linked the MPH's optimistic report with the upcoming elections.

"The incidence always goes down before the elections; it's an interesting trend," the user adizx750 has written. "Of course! Elections are just around the corner," the user without_sensual_ has added.

"What happens, there's a reduction before the elections; probably, after them there'll be growth again. Looks like controlled coronavirus, doesn't it?" the user maxackala835653999 has asked.

"We've conquered COVID-19 right by elections," the user vladsvarozhich2222 has noted ironically.
