KChR woman suspected of links with militants

In 2015-2016, a female resident of the Zelenchuk District of the Karachay-Cherkessian Republic (KChR) rendered medical aid to Syrian terrorists and shared the religious-extremist ideology, investigators assert.

According to their version, in June 2015, the woman flew from Russia to Turkey; and from there she arrived in Syria, where she helped treating members of the terrorist organization.

A criminal case has been initiated against the woman for taking part in a terrorist organization; she faces up to 20 years in prison.

The "Caucasian Knot" has also reported that a woman native of the Storozhevaya village of the Zelenchuk District was suspected of involvement in terrorist organization. According to investigators, since 2016, the woman has been in Syria and working in a hospital.
