Azerbaijan reports a shootout at border with Armenia

The Armenian armed forces shelled the positions of the Azerbaijani army in the Tovuz District, and the shelling attack was suppressed by return fire, the Ministry of Defence (MoD) of Azerbaijan reported.

The “Caucasian Knot” has reported that Armenia and Azerbaijan regularly exchange accusations of shelling attacks. On August 26, the Azerbaijani MoD claimed that Armenian soldiers shelled the positions of the Azerbaijani armed forces in the Kelbadjar District. A day earlier, Nagorno-Karabakh has reported about a shelling attack on Armenian villages and towns from the Azerbaijani side.

On August 26, the armed forces of Armenia used their positions in the village of Chinarly and shelled from submachine and machine guns the positions of the Azerbaijani army in the direction of the village of Kokhanabi in the Tovuz District. “The enemy’s attack was suppressed by return fire. There are no casualties among the personnel of the Azerbaijani army. At present, the situation in the direction is stable,” the MoD of Azerbaijan reports on its official website.
