Ingush residents criticize participants of forum in honour of Akhmat Kadyrov

Participation in official events in Chechnya is unacceptable for people from Ingushetia, Ingush Instagram users claim. A member of the Sultygovs teip (family clan) called on relatives to disavow Magomed-Bashir Sultygov, who participated in a Chechen forum.

The “Caucasian Knot” has reported that the Chechen-Ingush relations became complicated after in the autumn of 2018, Ingush leader Yunus-Bek Evkurov concluded an agreement with Ramzan Kadyrov on the establishment of the border between the republics. The persecution of the leaders of the protests still continues.

The day of August 23 marked the 70th anniversary of the birth of Akhmat Kadyrov, the first president of Chechnya. In Chechnya, the opening of a school, the beginning of the construction of a power plant, bicycle and auto rallies and other actions are timed to coincide with the 70th anniversary of the Akhmat Kadyrov’s birth.

Today, a video has been posted on Instagram, recorded in a car driving down a street in Grozny. There are two passengers and a driver in the car. The author of the video explains that they are travelling “to the forum in honour of the Akhmat-Khadji Kadyrov’s birthday” and introduces himself and his companions as a mufti, assistant to the mufti, and a deputy mufti.

The authority of the delegation raised doubts among Instagram users, who positioned themselves as residents of Ingushetia. In their comments, social media users criticized the people from the video for their visit to Chechnya and argued whether such a delegation might affect the republic’s reputation.

Isa Sultygov, a teip member from the village of Yandare, recorded an audio message urging his namesakes to disavow Magomed-Bashir Sultygov for his trip to Grozny.

The elders should intervene in the situation, user caucasian.history notes.
