Gadjiev and Rizvanov criticize prosecution's proofs

At the Southern District Military Court, prosecutors have read out 118 pages of analysis of the general financial ties of Abdulmumin Gadjiev, Abubakar Rizvanov and Kemal Tambiev, accused of financing terrorism. However, their names are mentioned once or twice in the huge document, Mr Rizvanov has pointed out.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that in Makhachkala, every week, pickets are held in support of Abdulmumin Gadjiev, a "Chernovik" journalist.

According to investigators, Abdulmumin Gadjiev, as well as Abubakar Rizvanov, the head of the "Ansar" charitable fund, and Kemal Tambiev had raised 68 million roubles and 200,000 US dollars for terrorists under the pretext of building mosques and helping Muslims.

On August 19, the Southern District Military court continued considering the case of Gadjiev, Rizvanov and Tambiev.

The main part of the session was dedicated to reading out the answer to investigators from the Criminal Investigating Department of Dagestan with "the results of analysis on bank accounts and cards and a statement on general financial ties"; these documents occupy 118 pages in the case files. The prosecutor quickly named at least 10 surnames, among which were the defendants' names, after which for a long time he kept reading the surnames, names and patronymics of people from different cities of Russia, who at different times transferred various amounts of money.

This information was obtained from an unknown source; it was indicated "only that some persons had translated something to someone," said Abubakar Rizvanov. "It has not been established to what account they did it. If these transfers were illegal, then all these persons should have been questioned by investigators," he said. According to his version, out of the entire list "there were one or two transfers" addressed to the defendants.

The document "only confirms the fact that there were no financial ties among the listed people," Abdulmumin Gadjiev has added.
