Ingush residents criticize Kadyrov for refusing to give out bodies of Timurziev brothers

The leader of Chechnya acted cruelly and contrary to Muslim morality by not giving out the bodies of the Timurziev brothers killed in Grozny to their relatives. This opinion was expressed by Instagram users, who positioned themselves as residents of Ingushetia.

The “Caucasian Knot” has reported that on December 28, 2020, the police were attacked in Grozny. One law enforcer was killed, while the other was severely wounded. Both attackers were killed. They were identified as the Timurziev brothers from Ingushetia. Chechen leader Ramzan Kadyrov instructed his subordinates to consider the issue with regard to giving out of the bodies of the killed suspects. However, he also emphasized that if the case was investigated under the article on terrorism, the bodies would not be given out to the relatives.

The relatives of the Timurziev brothers did not succeed in obtaining their bodies, and on August 17, they held a taziyat (tezet, a commemoration meeting) for them, the “Fortanga”, an edition of Ingush activists, reported on the same day with reference to their own source.

Readers of the “Ingushetia News” Instagram public account, who position themselves as residents of the republic, note that not giving out dead bodies is inhuman towards relatives. “I do not justify their act. I just feel sorry for their father and mother: for sure they did not send them to commit such atrocities,” user vse_proydet_i_ne_vernetsya wrote.

The refusal in giving out the bodies may hide violations on the part of the Chechen law enforcement bodies, some social media users suggest. “They are afraid of examination, and therefore they do not give out the bodies,” user diana_777_o suggests.

In their comments, users considered the refusal to surrender the bodies to be a personal decision of Ramzan Kadyrov and stated that it did not correspond to the norms of Islamic morality. “How, being a Muslim and knowing that the bodies must be buried, he does not give them out?” user umm_ali_umm expresses his indignation.
