Lawyers treat advocate's non-admission to SIZO as violation of Isaev's and Magamadov's rights

Under the pretext of quarantine, the advocate of Salekh Magamadov and Ismail Isaev was again denied a visit to his clients kept at the SIZO (pre-trial prison). During the quarantine, visits to detainees are prohibited, advocates have the right to communicate with them via telephone, the Moscow lawyers interviewed by the "Caucasian Knot" assert.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that in early February law enforcers took out from Nizhni Novgorod to Chechnya two Chechen natives – the 20-year-old Salekh Magamadov and his brother Ismail, who was a minor at that time. On February 9, 2021, the court, in the absence of the boys' advocates and parents, ruled to place them into custody.

The advocate said that he was unable to meet Isaev and Magamadov at the SIZO. "I was there last Friday (August 13). I couldn't meet them. The on duty unit told me that the guys were quarantined for COVID-19," the advocate, Alexander Nemov, told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

The SIZO bosses can declare quarantine if there is a danger to the health of the staff and the detainees kept there, Evgeny Chernousov, a Moscow lawyer, told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent. However, during the quarantine period, advocates can communicate with their clients via telephone, he has added.
