Georgian authorities admit problems in ambulance work

In Georgia, the load on the ambulance service has grown significantly amid the deteriorating epidemiological situation; therefore, calls are served with a delay, the country's Ministry of Public Health (MPH) has explained. Irakli Garibashvili, the Prime Minister, has stated that it is planned to make the vaccination against coronavirus mandatory.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on August 10, the country fixed a record number of COVID-19 victims since the onset of the pandemic. Ekaterina Tikaradze, the head of the MPH, has treated the epidemiological situation as difficult and stated a serious shortage of hospital beds.

After Georgia had imported the Pfizer vaccine, the number of people wishing to get vaccinated against coronavirus has increased significantly; if the high vaccination rates continue till the end of the year, residents will develop population immunity, the National Centre for Disease Control and Public Health has suggested.

The ambulance service works with the maximum involvement, but calls are serviced with a delay, Minister Ekaterina Tikaradze has admitted.

Irakli Garibashvili, the Premier, has warned residents about the authorities' plans to introduce mandatory vaccinations in the country following the USA example.

Doctors have urged citizens to strictly observe the existing restrictions.

In Georgia, since the onset of the pandemic, more than 471,000 coronavirus infection cases have been identified; and 6321 people have died.
