A tourist explains her video with a bone in Dargavs necropolis

A female traveller, suspected of desecrating the remains after her video with a bone in the Dargavs necropolis in North Ossetia, explained her act by ignorance and confidence that it was a dummy. The young woman complained about threats on social media.

The video from the City of the Dead complex, posted by the tourist on social media, first shows footage showing human bones lying in a dark room, including a skull. Then the video depicts old towers. The young woman with a large bone in her hands appears out of one of the towers.

The tourist explained her behaviour by not knowing where she was. According to her, there was no information on the signs near the City of the Dead complex that the remains of people were stored in the crypt. “I am still shocked how people who honour their ancestors and consider the place sacred can leave it open to everyone. I thought it was a fake,” the tourist explained.

According to young woman, she receives threats in private messages on social media. She also reports that the police are now conducting a check with regard to her act.

Social media users suggested closing the City of the Dead complex and punishing the guide accompanying the tourist. “The guide together with the wild tourist should be fined a decent amount,” user tumanna123 writes. “The authorities should close access there completely. The necropolis of Dargavs, Rekom, and other sacred cult territories and places of Ossetia should be removed from all tour routes and from all advertising tourist booklets!” user soslan.bg suggests.
