Tskaev’s widow calls sentences to Ossetian law enforcers too lenient

The verdict in a case on the death of Vladikavkaz resident Vladimir Tskaev is not fair, his widow concludes. Zemfira Tskaeva announced her intention to appeal against the court’s decision.

The “Caucasian Knot” has reported that a court in North Ossetia has been considering the case on the Vladimir Tskaev’s death since January 2019. A public prosecutor requested the court to sentence the defendants to 6-13 years of imprisonment. As a result, the court sentenced them to 2-10.5 years of imprisonment. All 10 defendants pleaded not guilty, and none of them asked for forgiveness.

On November 1, 2015, Vladimir Tskaev, a 39-year-old father of two children, died after being interrogated at a police department in Vladikavkaz.

According to Vladimir Tskaev’s widow, today, the court has pronounced “too lenient” sentences. Zemfira Tskaeva claims that she will likely to appeal against the verdict. The woman has added that she is afraid to live “in such a country.”

Even prior to the pronouncement of the court’s decision, Zaur Farniev, a journalist of the “Kommersant” in North Ossetia, suggested that the verdict would be of guilty, but disproportionate to the committed crime.

Let us remind you that the trial in Tskaev’s case lasted more than two years. The trial was supposed to start in October 2018, but was repeatedly postponed.

According to the victims, the testimony given in court by medical workers arouses suspicion of falsification. The law enforcers, accused of torturing Vladimir Tskaev, tried to evade responsibility, journalist Alina Alikhanova reports in her video.

The defence was delaying the trial in every possible way, Zemfira Tskaeva points out.
