Ingush resident detained unreasonably, his relatives claim

Relatives of Abbas Khamkhoev, a detained resident of Ingushetia, do not trust the version of the law enforcement bodies, according to which he was allegedly storing an explosive device in a house with his own minor children. After the search at the house and detention of Abbas Khamkhoev, the family members were not aware about his whereabouts for 24 hours and filed a complaint to the police about the kidnapping, an advocate reports.

According to advocate Magomed Aushev, Abbas Khamkhoev was detained on July 22, but the relatives could not find out his whereabouts until today. Magomed Aushev has already visited his client in an IVS (temporary detention facility). The detainee said that law enforcers suspected him of illegal possession of explosives.

Not knowing where Abbas Khamkhoev was, his family members filed a complaint to the police about his kidnapping, the advocate reported. According to Magomed Aushev, on the morning of July 22, about 30 law enforcers entered the Abbas Khamkhoev’s house in the village of Yandare. The law enforcers forced all tenants out into the street and claimed there might be a bomb inside the house. After conducting a search, the law enforcers allowed the tenants to come back inside and showed an explosive device lying on a chair-bed where one of the Abbas Khamkhoev’s children usually slept.

The relatives do not believe that Abbas Khamkhoev could store an explosive device in the house and, moreover, at the place where his child slept, the advocate emphasized. He suggested that Abbas Khamkhoev could be persecuted for his acquaintance with a man who had earlier been involved in the armed underground.
