Six more journalists found to be victims of riots in Tbilisi

On July 20, it became known that six more journalists received the status of victims in the case of the July 5 riots, including Marika Gotsiridze, a reporter of the "Rustavi-2" TV Company.

"I signed an identity document of the victim, after which we will have access to the case files together with an advocate. We have information that no one was detained in this episode of violence against my cameraman," Ms Gotsiridze has stated.

Zura Managadze, the company's cameraman, was shown the video recorded on July 5 at the Tbilisi Police Headquarters, where he was invited. According to Nino Barachashvili, a lawyer for the "Rustavi-2", Managadze managed to identify some of the suspects in committing violence.

On July 20, seven journalists answered investigators' questions at the Tbilisi Main Directorate, and watched video materials.

The members of the Cabinet of Ministers condemn the use of violence against journalists, Lasha Khutsishvili, the Finance Minister, said on July 20. According to his story, all the persons who had committed crimes will be held accountable.

Let us remind you that on July 5, during the riots at the protest actions against the gay pride parade in Tbilisi, 53 media workers were beaten. The Prosecutor’s Office recognized 41 people as victims, including 35 journalists.
