CTO regime in Nalchik was the first one during past year in KBR

The counterterrorist operation (CTO) regime announced today in the cities of Nalchik and Baksan became the first such case in the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic (KBR) since the CTO conducted in September 2019.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that at night on July 3, the regional operative headquarters introduced the CTO regime in Nalchik. Next morning, the CTO regime was introduced in Baksan. Local residents said that sounds of explosions and shootings were heard in the CTO areas. The Russian National Antiterrorist Committee (NAC) has reported the killing of five militants.

The CTO held in Nalchik and Baksan was the first one since September 2019. Then, the CTO regime was announced in the city of Chegem. In a shootout on September 18, 2019, two people were killed. Law enforcers treated the casualties as members of a banned terrorist organization who has been preparing a terror act.
