Colleagues of Dagestani journalist Gadjiev hold pickets on second anniversary of his arrest

In Makhachkala, activists held solo pickets with the demand to release Abdulmumin Gadjiev, an observer of the weekly newspaper “Chernovik” (Rough Draft). The Dagestani journalist’s arrest lasts for two years already.

The “Caucasian Knot” has reported that colleagues and friends of Abdulmumin Gadjiev regularly hold pickets in Makhachkala with the demand to release the journalist. They treat the prosecution of Abdulmumin Gadjiev as part of a campaign to put pressure on the independent media outlet.

Abdulmumin Gadjiev was detained in connection with a case on financing of terrorism. The journalist pleads not guilty.

During the first picket, the colleagues of the Dagestani journalist demanded to release him. The second picket was held with the demand to the authorities to stop ungrounded arrests. The third picket was geld under the slogan of the demand for freedom for political prisoners, the “Chernovik” reports on its Telegram channel.

Let us remind you that at a court hearing in Abdulmumin Gadjiev’s case, a prosecution witness testified in favour of the defendant and described in a positive way the journalist and his posts.
