On June 7-13, 2021, one person injured in armed conflict in Northern Caucasus

During the week of June 7-13, 2021, at least one person was injured in the armed conflict in Northern Caucasus. No killed were reported. These are the results of the calculations run by the “Caucasian Knot” based on its own materials and information from other open sources.

According to the investigators’ version, on June 7, in the Sadovy village of the city of Khasavyurt, a local resident tried to kill two men in a yard of his house because of a quarrel. The suspect threw a grenade. One person was hospitalized, while the other managed to hide behind a fence and was not injured.

Judicial chronicle

On June 10, the Southern District Military Court found Georgy Aleksanyants, a resident of Vladikavkaz, guilty of plotting a terror act and participation in the “Islamic State” (IS, a terrorist organization, banned in Russia by the court, – note of the “Caucasian Knot”). Georgy Aleksanyants was sentenced to 15 years of imprisonment in a high-security penal colony.

On June 8, the European Court of Human Rights (ECtHR) obliged the Russian authorities to pay 52,000 euros in compensation to each of the following persons: Magomed Tsechoev, Vladimir Makhnychev, and Akhmed Tsuroev. Law enforcers tortured the victims to force them to confess to participating in the attack on Nazran in 2004.
