Villagers report details of search at Ingush imam’s house

During a search, the police did not find any illegal items in a house of Adam Maloroev, the imam of the Sredniye Achaluki village. Law enforcers also questioned imam’s relatives, their fellow villagers said.

The “Caucasian Knot” has reported that on September 30, 2020, the police conducted searches at the houses of Adam Maloroev, the imam of the Sredniye Achaluki village in the Malgobek District, and Magomed Khashtyrov, the former acting head of the Spiritual Administration of Muslims (SAM) of Ingushetia, in the village of Troitskoye in the Sunzha District. Adam Maloroev was questioned as a witness in a case on clashes between activists and law enforcers in March 2019. On June 9, it became known that the police conducted new searches in the house of Adam Maloroev.

Magomed Khashtyrov, the assistant to the Mufti of the Republic of Ingushetia, confirmed the fact of the search conducted in the house of Adam Maloroev and said that the imam is now undergoing medical treatment in Novosibirsk. According to the assistant to the Ingush Mufti, the policemen who arrived to conduct the search presented a relevant search warrant. “Nothing illegal was found during the search,” the “Caucasian Knot” correspondent was told by Magomed Khashtyrov.

He also added that after the end of the search, the policemen took away with them the imam’s wife and his two sons, one of whom was a minor. “The wife and the children were questioned, and no one knows what questions they were asked. They were not kept at the police station for a long time, and after the questioning, they were let go home,” the assistant to the Ingush Mufti explained.
