Case of Armenian soldiers' war crimes sent to Baku court

The criminal case of the Armenian military servicemen, Ludvig Mkrtchyan and Alyosha Khosrovyan, accused of torturing captured soldiers and civilians during the 1992-1994 Karabakh war, has been sent to the Baku Military Court.

Twelve Azerbaijanis have been recognized as victims in the case, the APA News Agency has reported today.

According to investigators, Mkrtchyan tortured an Azerbaijani citizen who was captured on July 12, 1991 and kept for about 17 days in a forest near Khojaly, as well as another civilian, who acted as an interpreter and was captured on September 13, 1999 in the village of Tapgaragoyunlu of the Goranboy District.

Investigators also believe that Ludvig Mkrtchyan at various times beat up and tortured 11 citizens of Azerbaijan captured in the Khojavend and Agdara Districts, in the Shusha prison and in Yerevan, and also shot an Azerbaijani soldier dead from a submachine gun.

Investigators suppose that Alyosha Khosrovyan, together with Ludvig Mkrtchyan "cruelly and inhumanely" treated and tortured the Azerbaijani soldiers who were captured in 1993-94, the "Day.Az" has written today.
