President Aliev voices “last warning” for Armenia

While commenting on an incident with a shelling attack in the direction of the village of Seyidlyar, Ilham Aliev has said that Azerbaijani border guards will fire for effect in case of new shelling attacks on the border with Armenia.

The “Caucasian Knot” has reported that on April 22, the Border Guard Service of Azerbaijan reported about the shelling attack from the direction of Armenia on border guards deployed in the village of Seyidlyar in the Zangelan District. According to the information from a unit of the Border Guard Service of the Russian FSB, the people who opened fire were in state of alcoholic intoxication. Russian border guards asked their Azerbaijani colleagues not to respond to the shelling attack, the Russian FSB reported.

During a meeting with border guards, President Aliev said that the provocation, which occurred on the Armenian-Azerbaijani border on April 22, “should be the last one,” and in case of new incidents, the Azerbaijani army should “destroy the enemy on the spot.”

“We showed restraint and did not respond to the provocation. If there is another similar attempt, the enemy will be destroyed on the spot,” declared Ilham Aliev as quoted by the “Interfax-Azerbaijan” today.

During the same meeting with border guards, President Aliev announced that Azerbaijan was strengthening the restored border with Armenia.

“All the necessary infrastructural works are underway along the border, and all necessary vehicles and equipment are accumulated there. The length of this border is about 500 kilometres,” the RIA “Novosti” quoted the President of Azerbaijan as stating.
