Three elderly Azerbaijani women go on hunger strike

The residents of the Baku dwelling settlement of Turkan, who had been declared dead, are seeking the return of the land plots, as well as the release of the local resident who tried to help them solve the problem, the "Meydan.TV" has reported.

Khumara Shabanova, 91, Azizakhanum Ataeva, 80, and Tamara Suleimanova, 76, from the Baku settlement of Turkan have gone on a hunger strike in protest against the fact that they had been recorded as dead, and their land plots was sold, says the publication by the "Meydan.TV" entitled "Buried Alive: Azerbaijani Elderly Women Go Hunger Strike".

Azizakhanum Ataeva wanted to transfer her land plot to her eldest son, but it turned out that she had been regarded as deceased for many years. "Let them give me back my documents to the land, I don't need anything more from anyone else. I just want the truth," she said. Natik Magamedsoi, a local resident, did not remain indifferent to elderly women's problems and helped them choose an advocate. However, he was arrested.

"One of my demands is that Natik be released. The man was slandered because of us," Ms Ataeva's words are quoted in the publication.
