Police react to video depicting beating of Lezginka dancers in Krasnodar

The police launch an investigation into the circumstances of the incident, as a result of which two natives of Northern Caucasus who danced Lezginka in a street in Krasnodar were beaten by a group of people, the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) reported after a video of the incident had been posted on social media platforms.

In Krasnodar, a mass fight has taken place between two groups of men over the Lezginka dance, the "Bloknot Krasnodar" reports today. The press service for the Russian MIA's Department for Krasnodar confirmed that a conflict had indeed occurred in Krasnoarmeyskaya Street. According to the preliminary version, the fight took place on the night of February 24. The investigation into the circumstances of the incident is underway, and the police have not received any complaints about the fight, the Russian MIA reports.

Today, a video depicting the mass fight in Krasnodar has been posted on the TikTok social media platform. A similar video also appeared on the VKontakte social media platform. The description under the video says that the conflict occurred over the Lezginka dance. Guests of the city stopped on the road, thus blocking traffic, turned on music, and started dancing, which local residents did not like, the description under the video notes.

The footage of the video posted today in the "Zdravy Smysl" (Common Sense) group on the VKontakte social media platform depicts about a dozen men who are beating a man sitting near a car. The victim wrapped his arms around his head in attempts to avoid the blows. After the young man fell to the ground, one of the attackers sprayed gas on his face.
