Sources report Avidzba's detention in Sukhumi

Law enforcers have detained Akhru Avidzba, an assistant to President of Abkhazia, and brought him for questioning to the Security Service (SS). Avidzba's relatives have gathered outside the SS' building waiting for his release.

According to relatives, Avidzba was detained on March 4 at about 9:00 p.m., after which law enforcers searched his house, the RESPUBLICA Telegram channel has reported today. Weapons and ammunition were found in Akhra Avidzba's house, the Telegram channel AMRA-life has added.

Information about Avidzba's detention and a search of his house was confirmed by a source close to his entourage, the "Sputnik Abkhazia" has reported today.

At night on March 5, after Akhra Avidzba's detention, his relatives gathered near the Abkhaz SS' building, the "Echo Kavkaza" has reported.

Akhra Avidzba is an Abkhaz politician, who in late 2019-early 2020 headed street actions that ended in the president's dismissal. He fought in the self-proclaimed Donetsk People's Republic (DPR), and is a DPR's Hero.
