Two Dagestani law enforcers detained on suspicion of kidnapping

Four persons kidnapped a resident of Makhachkala and demanded from him to pay out 4 million roubles. Two of the kidnappers, former policemen, are detained, the Investigating Committee of the Russian Federation (ICRF) reports today.

An investigation into a criminal case on kidnapping by prior conspiracy and robbery has been launched, the ICRF's Department for Dagestan reports today.

According to the ICRF, on February 14, 2021, in Nasrutdinov Avenue in Makhachkala, four persons, one of whom introduced himself as a policeman, told a 51-year-old local resident that the car was wanted. Then they handcuffed the man, put a plastic bag on his head, and forced him into their car. They also seized the keys from the victim's car. "The kidnappers brought the victim to various places, used violence, and threatened to kill him. They demanded from the man to pay them 4 million roubles. They took the victim's bank card, forced him to tell them the PIN code, and took 300,000 roubles from the card. While trying to fulfil the demands of the kidnappers, the man contacted his relatives," the ICRF's Department for Dagestan reports on its official website.

The kidnappers took the man out of Makhachkala, demanded to hand 4 million roubles over to them in the future, and left him. Two former policemen were detained on suspicion of committing the above crime, while the investigators are busy to identify other participants of the crime.
