Nagorno-Karabakh residents commemorate war casualties

In Stepanakert, on the Day of Armenian Army and Fatherland Defender, clergymen held a memorial service for those who perished in the recent war; and local residents laid flowers and wreaths to the Memorial Complex.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that by January 28, the number of militaries' bodies found in the Karabakh conflict zone had reached 1321.

Annually, on January 28, Armenia and Nagorno-Karabakh mark the Day of Armenian Army and Fatherland Defender.

The casualties of World War II, battles in the 1990s, the April 2016 war and of the latest hostilities in the fall of 2020 are buried into the Memorial Complex in Stepanakert.

At the Cathedral of the Intercession of God's Mother, the clergymen of the Artsakh Diocese of the Armenian Apostolic Church have held a commemoration service for the casualties.

"We have hard times; our losses and pain are endless ... Now, if we want to correct mistakes and move towards stronger statehood, no pathos and disagreements will help; but a smart, persistent and long work based on correct risk assessment is needed," Artak Beglaryan, a former Ombudsperson of Nagorno-Karabakh, has stated, adding: "We thank everyone who has contributed to the defence of our Fatherland and to the creation of the Armenian Army; and we have no right to forget about our heroes for a minute."
