Daudov and Chechen law enforcers fall under British sanctions

British authorities have imposed sanctions on Magomed Daudov, Speaker of the Chechen Parliament, two high-ranking officials of the republic's Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) and the "Terek" special forces unit, whom London considers to be involved in the persecution of the LGBT community.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on December 10, the US Treasury included five individuals and six legal entities associated with the head of Chechnya, Ramzan Kadyrov, into the Magnitsky list, including Vakhit Usmaev, the deputy chairman of the Chechen government, the Akhmat Kadyrov Foundation and two sports clubs named "Akhmat".

Great Britain has imposed sanctions on the Speaker Magomed Daudov; Ayub Kataev, the ex-head of the police in the Chechen city of Argun; Apti Alaudinov, Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs of Chechnya, as well as the "Terek" SOBR (special rapid reaction unit), says the updated sanctions list posted on the website of the British Parliament.

The imposed restrictions are timed to the International Human Rights Day and assume a ban on entry into the UK and freezing of bank accounts.

The United Kingdom believes that the listed individuals and legal entities are involved in violations of the rights of representatives of the LGBT community, the RIA "Novosti" has reported.
