Social network users criticize Kadyrov's statement about Marvel characters

Ramzan Kadyrov demanded to replace images of comic book characters on the walls of the children's centre in Kurchaloi with photographs of "real heroes." Some social network users considered the position of the leader of Chechnya to be too strict.

On November 16, Ramzan Kadyrov visited Kurchaloi and instructed his subordinates to remove from the walls of the children's centre the images of characters from US movies and Marvel comics, in particular, Thor and Captain America, and replace them with national heroes.

"In the history of our religion and our nation, we have a lot of real heroes whom one can and should take for a model of behaviour," said Ramzan Kadyrov as quoted by the RIA "Novosti".

In their comments, some social network users reacted critically to Ramzan Kadyrov's statement.

"Why? What's wrong with heroes of comics? More than one generation of children has grown up while watching those comics," wrote Alina Manakova.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that the Chechen authorities position themselves as keepers of traditions. So, in July 2019, on the air of the "Grozny" TV Channel, the Minister of Culture of the Chechen Republic condemned amateur singers posting their recordings on the Internet.
