In Ingushetia, police detain former imam, sources report

In Plievo, law enforcers conducted a search at home of Magomed-Sali Daurbekov, the former imam of Karabulak, and he was detained, a source reports today. A video with law enforcers leaving the street in Plievo was posted on the Internet.

Today, an informed source has reported that the house of Magomed-Sali Daurbekov, the former imam of Karabulak, was searched in the Ingush village of Plievo. "Starting from the early morning, the search has been conducted in the rural settlement of Plievo in the Nazran District, at the place of the Magomed-Sali Daurbekov's residence. For several years, he had been serving as imam of the Karabulak mosque," reported the informed source as quoted by the "Interfax".

According to the source, Magomed-Sali Daurbekov was detained after the search. The source did not associate the imam's detention with the protests in Magas in 2019.

The record of the morning events in Plievo was made public by the FortangaOrg Telegram Channel. The video shows five local residents, including men and women, who gathered around cars in the private sector. Two law enforcers get into a military truck, and five cars leave the street. "Magomed-Sali Daurbekov was taken away from home. Relatives are not informed where the law enforcers are taking him," the "FortangOrg" reports on its Facebook page.
