Control over Shushi mentioned as Baku's immediate target

After the statements of the Ministry of Defence (MoD) of Armenia about the desire of the Azerbaijani army to establish control over the city of Shushi by the Flag Day, a video with an Azerbaijani tricolour on the minaret appeared on social networks. The mosque does not resemble any one located in Shushi.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on October 29, Araik Arutyunyan, President of Nagorno-Karabakh, called on the Armenian people to unite and defend Shushi (the Azerbaijani name is Shusha, – note of the "Caucasian Knot"), after which volunteers from Armenia left for that sector of the front. According to the MoD of Armenia, as of October 30, battles took place several kilometres from the city, but the Azerbaijani troops were pressed out from the territory.

At night, at least one Armenian soldier was killed during the battles near Shushi, reported Artsrun Ovannisyan, the spokesperson for the Armenian MoD. According to him, the Azerbaijani troops are trying to break through to Shushi in order to hang their tricolour in the city for the Flag Day celebrated in Azerbaijan on November 9, the "Sputnik-Armenia" reports.

It should be noted that the self-defence forces of Nagorno-Karabakh captured Shushi in 1992, and earlier, the city was inhabited mainly by Azerbaijani natives.
