Social network users outraged by checks of Chechen residents' smartphones

Law enforcers have no right to check the phones' contents of passers-by in Chechnya, Instagram users have stated.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported, referring to residents of Chechnya, that during the recent raids, law enforcers checked not only people's documents, but also their mobile phones, looking into the applications installed there. Law enforcers were interested in whether smartphone owners commented on the messages of authorities' critics in social networks, users have suggested.

Checks of smartphones in Chechnya continue, the 1Adat Telegram Channel has reported, urging residents to be "extremely careful."

The authors of some comments on the Instagram have expressed their outrage at law enforcers' actions. "What right do they have to look into someone's phone?" the user ar.slan5448 was indignant. "Even fathers don't look into their daughters' phone, because it's a personal thing," the user besnyash believes.

"If the popularity of authorities' critics grows, it means that people can no longer remain silent, no matter how scary it is!" the user kabarda07_____07 has written.

Let us remind you that in September, a video, in which a naked man who identified himself as Salman Tepsurkaev sat on a bottle, explaining that this was a punishment for his cooperation with the oppositional 1Adat Telegram Channel, caused a broad resonance in Chechnya.
