Activists demand to investigate threats against Dagestani journalist Svetlana Anokhina

Law enforcers should investigate the threats against the journalist, Svetlana Anokhina, which have forced her to leave Dagestan, the "GorodNash" (Our City) public movement has stated.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that Svetlana Anokhina left Dagestan after the police refused to investigate telephone threats received by her.

"In the republic, where the number of law enforcers per 1000 of population is one of the largest in Russia (and even in the world), such law enforcers' inefficiency is unacceptable," Arsen Magomedov, a member of the Public Chamber of Dagestan, has written on his Facebook.

Back in July, Anokhina told the police about the threats received from unidentified person "to deal with feminists."

Most social network commentators have found it unacceptable that law enforcers made no reaction to threats against Anokhina.

"It's a shame that she had to leave the city that she has loved and protected for so many years," the user Leila Omarova has stated.
