Doctor urges to release Tofig Yagublu

The doctor of the family of Tofig Yagublu, who went on a hunger strike at the SIZO (pre-trial prison), has prescribed him some therapy. Yagublu has lost a lot of weight and has difficulty with walking; he should be placed under house arrest so that he can receive medical care, the doctor has stated.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on September 2, Tofig Yagublu, an oppositionist, went on a hunger strike. The next day, the court sentenced him to four years and three months in prison. The verdict may be changed if the international community exerts pressure on Azerbaijani authorities, human rights defenders and his relatives believe.

Adil Geibulla, the doctor, believes that in order to prevent dangerous consequences for Yagublu's health, he should be released.

At the present stage of Yagublu's case, the law allows changing his freedom restriction measure, Agil Laidj, an advocate, has stated.
