Magomed Doliev's relatives adjudge 2.5 million roubles from law enforcers

The Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) is obliged to pay compensation to the father of Magomed Doliev, a resident of Ingushetia, who died from torture, and to his brother and two sisters. The court has reduced fourfold the compensation amount claimed by the victims.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that the 50-year-old Magomed Doliev was detained by law enforcers on suspicion of involvement in a bank robbery; he died of torture at the Ingush Centre for Countering Extremism (CCE, or "E" Centre) on July 16, 2016. Timur Khamkhoev, the former head of the Centre, which operates under the Ingush Branch of the Russian FSB (Federal Security Bureau), and some of his subordinates were convicted for torturing detainees.

On September 3, the Magas District Court of Ingushetia partially satisfied the claim lodged by relatives of Magomed Doliev, who died during interrogation at the Ingush "E" Centre. Mukharbek Doliev, Magomed's father was awarded a million roubles in compensation, and Nazir Doliev, the brother, and Ferdos Dolieva and Asa Temirbieva, Magomed's sisters, were awarded 500,000 roubles each, said Andrei Sabinin, the victims' advocate.

The court has partially satisfied the claim by reducing the demanded amount of compensation by four times. The father claimed 4 million roubles, while the brother and sisters – 2 million roubles of compensation each.
