Victims in Ulman's case waive their compensation claims

On Thursday, December 21, the North-Caucasian Regional Military Court interrogated six victims in the case of the group special fighters ("spetsnaz") under command of captain Eduard Ulman accused of murdering six peaceful Chechens in 2002.

The "Interfax" reports that all the victims have stated that each of the casualties had documents on them. Besides, all the victims refused from their claims for the inflicted material damage. Earlier at the process, they assessed their moral damage worth one million US dollars.

Koka Tugurova, sister of the murdered driver of the UAZ car, noted that "he could not have overlooked the serviceman's signals and not to stop."

The Court has ruled to partially satisfy the petition of the civil defendant (Ministry of Defence) that the entity in charge of claims should not the MoD, but the military regiment, where Mr. Ulman and other defendants are doing their military service, the RIA "Novosti" reports.

Besides, in the course of Thursday's session, the Court interrogated senior sergeant Eduard Popov, a member of Ulman's group. He reported that Ulman had ordered the driving car to stop, but it not only failed to obey but tried to knock Ulman down, then he jumped off and made a warning shot. The car continued to move, and only then he had ordered to open fire.
