Chechen soldier sentenced to 8 years of imprisonment for killing his colleague in Syria

A soldier from Chechnya was sentenced to eight years of imprisonment in a penal colony after he had shot and killed his colleague in Damascus for quarrelling in the presence of their commander.

According to investigators, on February 22, 2019, during his mission in Damascus, Aidashk Oorzhak had a quarrel with a colleague. The conflict took place in the presence of an officer who ordered Aidashk Oorzhak to leave the room, the Chechen military commandant's office reported.

The soldier complied with the order and then took a pistol which belonged to the officer and fired at the colleague out of a desire to punish him for the quarrel. The victim got a neck wound and died several days later.
