Eldjarkiev's murder recognized as terror act

Investigators have qualified the murder of Ibragim Eldjarkiev, the head of the Ingush Centre for Combating Extremism (CCE), under the article on terror acts, by presenting new charges to all those arrested within the case.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on July 22, investigators began bringing charges under a terrorist article to those detained within the case of the attempt on the life of the head of the Ingush CCE, Ibragim Eldjarkiev, in January 2019.

Ibragim Eldjarkiev was shot dead in Moscow on November 2. His brother Akhmed Eldjarkiev, a doctor at a Moscow hospital, also fell victim to the attack. According to sources, the murder of Ibragim Eldjarkiev could be a result of blood feud amid his conflict with members of the Batal-Khadji community, one of which leaders, Ibragim Belkharoev, was killed in 2018.

One of the main figurants in the Ibragim Eldjarkiev's murder case, Khasan Polonkoev, has faced an extended charge. He is accused of organizing a terrorist community, committing terrorist acts based on episodes of attacks on Eldjarkiev and illegal arms dealing, the "Interfax" reported on July 24, citing its informed source.

Earlier, Polonkoev was charged only with encroachment on the life of a law enforcer in the episode of the attempt on Eldjarkiev in the winter of 2019, and illegal arms dealing. The rest of the figurants in the case of the attempt on Eldjarkiev's life and the case of his murder are also charged under articles related to terrorism, while investigators now qualify the law enforcer's murder as a terror act, the source has explained.
