FSB knows from where Chechen separatists got their funds

The FSB (Federal Security Bureau) of Russia has decoded the archives of Jordanian mercenary Abu Havs, one of Chechen separatists' leaders. He was killed in Khasavyurt.

The "Rossijskaya Gazeta" has reported that records in Havs' diary ran from 1999. In those days, according to Russian special agencies, Abu Havs illegally arrived, in a group of 70 Arabs, to Russia through the Pankisskoye Gorge. Those who visited the Caucasian Mountains from abroad were mostly financiers in charge of setting channels for money deliveries from Islamic communities of Turkey, Jordan, Saudi Arabia and Europe. Each of the Arabs, according to special agencies, had his individual channel of receiving funds. Foreign sponsors donate money to a particular name, authority and, as a rule, to their fellow countrymen, the edition writes.

In his report to sponsors, Abu Havs struck the last year's balance in the total sum of 340,000 US dollars. As of January 2006, receipts from abroad had made over 200,000 US dollars. A very huge cash dollar receipt was obtained by militants this May - 5 million US dollars as ransom for a rich hostage.
