Instagram users sceptical about Kadyrov's words on epidemic

The head of Chechnya, Ramzan Kadyrov, has stated that the number of new coronavirus cases in the republic is decreasing. Instagram users have doubted this information.

"Over the past 24 hours (June 5), 13 people got positive results. In the absolute majority of cases, the disease is either asymptomatic or in the form of a simple acute respiratory viral infection," Kadyrov wrote in his Instagram page on June 5.

Some social network users have doubted that the number of new infections had really decreased. Authorities report successes, but preserve various bans, users have noted.

"Many are treated at home. They hospitalize only extremely grave cases," the user rumisa_1970 has noted.

Commentators have also criticized the difficulties they face in their lives because of coronavirus.

"And when will the borders be opened? I want to go home, to my parents, but I haven't been home for the seventh month already," the user hayat_b_95_06 has reported.

According to Alexei Malashenko, the head of scientific studies at the "Civilizations' Dialogue" Institute, the preservation of restrictions in Chechnya could be caused by a hazardous coronavirus situation there. "I don't exclude that the situation has worsened," he said.
