Food aid from Chechnya to UAE surprises Instagram users

The Akhmat Kadyrov Foundation sent 30 tons of food products to one of the richest countries in the Middle East, while there are many people in need in Chechnya, users of the social network note. This is a response gesture to the humanitarian aid with personal protective equipment and tests for coronavirus sent to Chechnya and Dagestan, the Chechen authorities explain.

The Chechen authorities sent 30 tons of meat, fruits, and vegetables to the United Arab Emirates (UAE), the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent learned from the administration for the leader and government of Chechnya.

"Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the Crown Prince of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, learned that the situation with the spread of the coronavirus infection was difficult in neighbouring Dagestan and decided to help our neighbours as well. On June 2, a plane brought to Grozny 25,000 tests for coronavirus, 50,000 medical masks, 32,000 pieces of shoe covers, and other means of personal protective equipment (PPE)," the administration for the leader and government of Chechnya reported.

On the air of the "Grozny" TV Channel, Muslim Khuchiev, the chairman of the government of Chechnya, has noted that the humanitarian aid came to the republic thanks to the "fraternal relations" of the leader of Chechnya with the authorities of the UAE.

"Actually, everyone knows the UAE is in direct need," user parfum_chechny expressed her irony on Instagram. The social network user has noted that in Chechnya, "there are a lot of families who need not only fruits, but elementary food products that would help them survive."

However, in their comments, some users supported sending food aid to the UAE. "We would have been beggars if we hadn't made a gesture in response!" wrote user soverizam.
