Dagestani villagers threaten to burn 5G tower down

Residents of the village of Novy Chirkei in the Kizilyurt District said they have no need of high-speed Internet, and demanded to dismantle the 5G-communication tower.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on April 20, a GSM tower was burned down in the North-Ossetian village of Nogir. The head of the region, Vyacheslav Bitarov, stated that the arson was committed by the people who don't believe in the existence of coronavirus: they are afraid of introducing a fifth-generation (5G) network and of "chipping."

At their meeting, Novy Chirkei villagers in Dagestan have expressed their indignation at the installation of the 5G tower, the "360" TV Channel reported on May 28 on its website. The date of the meeting is not specified in the post, which is accompanied by a video, which was posted on the same day in social networks, Instagram, and Telegram.

In the video, one woman-villager speaks on behalf of a dense crowd of women, surrounding her. "They came here as rats, installed the tower and fled away. We, the people of the village, are all against it," she said, concluding that the villagers "have no need of high-speed Internet."

The woman expressed confidence that radiation from the new tower is harmful to human health. "Why do we need this tower? We have schools, kindergartens and stadiums here; there are children here; we don't need this radiation and the second Chernobyl," the protesting woman asserts. Speaking on behalf of all the villagers, she threatened to destroy the tower. "If our demands are not heard, then, we'll burn this tower down ourselves. Please take measures," the speaker has concludes.
